"A Royal Tour"

MEETING DATE:  SEPTEMBER 17, 2013
MEETING TIME:  Lunch at 12 noon followed by meeting
GUEST FEE:  $5.00
SPEAKER:  Maureen Bovet, Garden Designer, born and raised in NYC, now resides in Lexington, MA
TOPIC:  "A Royal Tour" - London's Chelsea Flower Show

Maureen will lead off our 2013 season with a royal tour of London's Chelsea Flower Show.

Maureen first visited CFS in 2002 while living in Paris.  She has attended this show five times.  Her talk will be richly illustrated with beautiful PowerPoint slides.  She will stroll us through outdoor garden rooms and admire the plant delights under the tent.  The Chelsea experience is uniquely British--gorgeous flowers, champagne lunch while red-uniformed band is playing on the lawn.  As a bonus, she'll tour us through the nearby walled Chelsea Physic Garden, opened in 1673.  This historic garden is a lovely ending to the perfect garden-lover's day.  You'll want to hop on the next plane to London.

Maureen has led garden tours for the Paris Garden Guild; propagated plants for Historic New England; developed the volunteer gardening program at Habitat in Belmont; designed the Memorial Garden at First Parish Church, Lexington.  She is a Museum Associate at the MFA on the Flower Team.

She brings a unique background in horticulture, garden design and European history.  A graduate of Wellesley College, she has studied at the Arnold Arboretum Landscape Institute and the U Mass Green School.
