Brilliant! a tribute to gardens of the British Isles at the

Philadelphia International Flower Show

… and “Longwood Garden’ Spring Display

Thursday-Friday, March 7-8, 2013

Join BCS and the Barrington Garden Club on their annual overnight trip to the largest indoor flower show in the world. The show features large scale gardens, which range from elaborate landscaped displays to individual and club entries of a prize horticultural specimen. This year’s official theme, which will serve as the inspiration for most exhibits, is “Brilliant!” featuring gardens and displays reflecting the horticultural expertise and passion for gardening and floral design in the British Isles. The 2013 show reflects the majestic beauty and creative genius of Great Britain, and is inspired by centuries of British culture, culminating in the urbane design of 21st-century London. We’ll travel from Royal Palace settings to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, from floral Crown Jewels to a manicured cricket club, from rolling English hillsides to foggy streetscapes, from sunny gardens to the dark alleys of Jack the Ripper. The show’s centerpiece will be a digitally-enhanced rendition of Big Ben.

More than 140 marketplace vendors, a food court, and free demonstrations and lectures complement the floral displays. Because of the immensity of this show and morning crowds, we have, by repeated popular request, purchased tickets for both Thursday evening and Friday; the price of both admission tickets is reflected in the total price of the trip. The price of the Thursday night ticket will not be deducted from the trip fee for those not wishing to attend at night, and portions of the package not utilized are not refundable.

Our trip will also include the breath-taking spring display at Longwood Gardens, a certain spring fever catalyst. in addition, we’ll leave winter at the front door and enter the warm Conservatory where thousands of orchids will drape from walls, flow from baskets and form towering arches in the colorful display of the annual Orchid Extravaganza Longwood admission, lunch at the gardens, overnight accommodations in Philadelphia, two flower show tickets, full American breakfast, motorcoach and more are included in the fee.

Once again, we’ll overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn, just across the street from the Flower Show. Following a full American breakfast at the hotel, our second day will be devoted entirely to the Philadelphia Flower Show, after which we will return to RI, with a dinner stop en route home. Included in the trip fee are overnight accommodations at the Hilton Garden Inn, admission and lunch at Longwood Gardens, 2-day admission tickets to the flower show, full American breakfast, BCS escort, motorcoach transportation and driver tip.
