The Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. (RIFGC) is responsible for two major events for the New England Region (NER) in October, the NER Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon and the NER Symposium. These events are rotated each year among the six New England States.
The NER Annual Meeting begins on
Sunday, October 14 with a reception honoring NER Director, Joyce Kimball (NH)
and special guest NGC President, Shirley Nicolai. This will be followed by
dinner and a program of dances, similar to those at our RIFGC Annual meeting.
On Monday morning, Joyce will preside over the Annual Meeting, followed by a
program by Vera Bowen – The Children’s Garden at the Women’s Minimal Prison.
The Awards Luncheon concludes this event.
Later that afternoon, 4:15 pm, the
Symposium begins with a welcome and then one of the two required Allied
Subjects –“So You Think You Know The Handbook?” with the Horticulture
Instructor, David Robson.
Tuesday, October 16 begins with the
second Allied Subject “Viva la Difference” with Design Instructor, Barbara May.
Barbara will then teach Design – “For Your Dining Pleasure,” Innovative
Exhibition Tables. This session ends at 2:45pm.
David will present the Horticulture
segment on Wednesday, - “A Different Take on Collections and Displays” and
Orchid Plants. This session ends at 1:45pm.

You do not have to be a judge to
attend this symposium, garden club members and guests may attend upon payment
of the registration fee, which includes lunch.
